ABSTRACT

What does the future hold for corporate social responsibility? In the context of the current economic recession is there room for the idea that businesses and employers have responsibilities beyond their economic and legal obligations? Or is it inevitable that in an economic downturn CSR activities will also be down prioritized? This book will conclude by considering these questions. But before engaging in such future reflections, another question will be addressed in the first half of this chapter, namely that of how this book has established that CSR is relevant to the politics and study of the welfare state. The section below will draw together the findings from the various chapters and it will consider the overall conclusions reached concerning the relationship between CSR and the welfare state.
