ABSTRACT

The aim of stakeholder analysis is to gather information on the entities with interest in, or influence over, the strategic direction of the corporation. The needs and opinions of shareholders are clearly important, as are the views of the community of people directly under the umbrella of the corporation such as employees. The corporation could be playing a role in a number of communities such as the localities where corporate factories and facilities are sited. This chapter focuses on gathering sufficient stakeholder information to inform the strategic analysis. This should include the key requirements of the most significant stakeholders. Corporations that are complementary' or suppliers' are stakeholders and should be treated as such. Understanding their motives can ensure strategy prevents complementary from becoming competitors and encourages suppliers to invest to improve their ability to continue to supply the corporation.
