ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the social aspect of housing in North America based on the empirical findings. In particular, it seeks to find out what elements, if any, in residential environment facilitate social cohesion and help attain social unity or “oneness.” As such, the chapter consists of four sections: education, occupation, and house-purchasing power; social relations with neighbors; marriage/wedding ceremonies/anniversaries; and relations among family members.
