ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the principles for quality achievement for products and services, developed over many years by quality practitioners, consultants and academics. The achievement of quality in an audit and organisation is achieved by total commitment to the principles underlying quality management. For auditors, that commitment requires a passion to be best in all the steps of the Ten Step Audit Process. Quality is required by laws, regulations, principles, standards and stakeholder engagements across all organisations, their supply chains and networks. Quality achievement is a contributor to trust and improvement. Future quality developments need to focus upon the motivations of leaders, and on ways to get alongside those who will need to change, not to confront them and threaten them. All auditors are managers of the quality of their work, and those who manage that work have an important responsibility to make certain that its quality is of the highest standard.
