ABSTRACT
This chapter examines four prototypal worlds and discusses people's appropriate choice for a viable future. The contemporary world is increasingly based on the Market and this has been driving all people and societies into a rat race, chasing endlessly after, and competing perpetually for, newly marketed goods and services. The choice between the Big Brother controlled state of the Orwellian World and helplessly driven state of the Market in perpetual competition in the World of Big Market is a bleak one. The world favoring diverse and Sound Cultures can also be postulated as against the world based on the pervasive market fundamentalism. Put differently, the World of Big Market may indicate an incarnation of Pax Americana, harnessing the power of multinational corporations, global financiers, mass-media and IT enterprises, as well as the might of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and the World Trade Organization (WTO).
