ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to provide insights into the current needs and evolving complexities associated with cyber security issues from the perspective of corporate security and resilience. From an organizational perspective, a resilience policy needs to be viewed as wide ranging and holistic. The US Homeland Security Studies and Analysis Institute explored the link between risk and resilience and added to the body of knowledge and our understanding of what risk is and what resilience is. Associated with technology risk are computer viruses and their ability to affect the performance of a system and ultimately to cause it to fail. Therefore ownership, control and all-round resilience of a system or organization to cope with threats and ensure that any damage created will be dealt with speedily and with limited cost to the end user, underpins the concept of a resilience policy.
