ABSTRACT

In the preceding pages of this book, I argued that an industry is part of a complex adaptive system in which its business models co-evolve with its social and technological environments. In Part 1 , I summarised the work from The Future of Pharma , which applied the concepts of evolutionary economics to the pharmaceutical sector and examined the complex changes taking place in its co-evolving environments. This in turn led to my conclusion about the shape of the sector’s fi tness landscape and the various new business models that are emerging to populate that landscape.
