ABSTRACT

Chapter 3 provides some technical knowledge of the physics of daylight, its performance indicators, and the flow of its energy in the built environment. The chapter explains the performance of daylight in different climatic and sky conditions, giving examples of how levels of daylight have shaped and influenced building regulations and urban policies in different parts of the world. It concludes with a review of the current trends of daylight studies in architecture, the built environment, and the impact of building façades on levels of daylight.
