ABSTRACT

Induction games and structured activities can be used effectively during the new employee's early days on the job. Interesting quizzes, assessments, games and activities can provide important information in an easy and non-threatening way. Everything at the new employee's workplace should be ready for use. If something of key importance is not ready, apologize and let the new person know when to expect it. Walk the new person around the work area. Show them where to hang coats, where the toilets are, where tea and coffee can be had, vending areas and such. Introduce the new person to his or her co-workers and to other key people in the workplace. While it is very important to get the new employee's first hour on the job off to a good start, it is just as important that the entire day should be a good one.
