To acquaint new employees with the typical deductions that are taken from their pay and with other related money matters. A large copy of a typical payslip with the various deductions highlighted to post on a wall; copies of the same payslip to distribute; a general handout on payslips, deductions, and related matters; prizes. Get a copy of a typical payslip and gather information for various deductions. Check with accounting and other departments concerned and make sure your information is accurate. Basic instructions for payslip: Distribute the sample payslips, explain that the various deductions are listed but point out the blanks where amounts are missing. Afterwards, ask participants to fill in the blanks with their estimates of the percentage of their pay that will be withheld for each deduction category. List the deduction categories on a flipchart. Thus, go through the information on the handout and have participants check their estimates with the information they now have.
