To explore the written and unwritten rules of conduct. The participants have to review the written rules of conduct for their workplace, then generate and discuss the possible unwritten rules. Go through people organization's handbook or other material that describes general rules of conduct and guidelines for employee behaviour. Become acquainted with company stated policy. Have enough copies of such material ready for all participants. Do some investigation of their organization's unwritten rules. Certain rules: Distribute the material on rules of conduct and employee behaviour. Begin a list of unwritten rules on a flipchart. Use examples like official work hours verses. staying late, and so forth. Tell participants that they will now go on a ten-minute reconnaissance mission into the workplace to gather information about unwritten rules. They must each go into the workplace and observe behaviour. If possible, they should go to their new departments and talk to one or two people.
