ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the activities of the organisation on attracting, selecting, recruiting, developing and deploying only those talents that help the business meet its strategic goals. It presents the basics of generic business strategies, in order that people can compare their own organisation's plans against a core framework. Aligning the goals of the talent and the business strategy is at the heart of Effective Talent Management (ETM). The most important element of any talent strategy is how closely aligned it is to the overall business strategy. If the organisation gets this right, then every euro invested in talent will positively impact on the overall goals of the business. Fast fashions (FF) was a subsidiary division of a global apparel and luxury goods business based in Paris. FF had a web infrastructure that could not be scaled up to a full e-tailing business model. The outlined business strategy of FF created some infrastructure challenges, change management problems and cultural issues.
