ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book addresses the needs of a busy manager and busy engineer by bridging it with the technical contents available in the market without having a need to be well versed in the technical and engineering aspects. It deals with a non-scientific, non-engineering introduction on energy conservation, measurements to determine energy efficiency is developed along with some of the common terminologies used in the market. Over the last 15 years, many energy regulations and economic incentives have been introduced in the UK, the European Union (EU), the USA and many other countries. The book covers gaining commitment from senior management, myths of a perfect energy manager, energy management and its key features. It highlights the need for communication as a feedback process, tools that enable daily energy management and describes an intuitive management dashboard that gives timely and accurate data for informed decision making.
