ABSTRACT
The view of the borders as the perimeter of a whole, as "the new centers and laboratories of social and political change", and as the focus on their local and regional manifestations are the results of the shift from a state-centered approach to a border-centered approach in border studies. Like all other border regions, the Sarp border has its own social and economic dynamics. The trade that is done in the border regions has both legal and illegal dimensions such as smuggling and "billing forgery", which has made its mark in Turkey for a period of time.
