Making Better Project Decisions book
Much of this book has so far focused on the role of the project shaper and the influence of personal agency in contributing to the development of effective project initiation decisions. Those who play the project shaper role fall into a variety of organizational categories. The role may be formal or informal in nature, depending in part upon how clearly defined the process of project initiation is within the organization. The project shaper may be the executive champion responsible for a project, a project manager or a subject matter expert. The level of influence can vary based upon positional authority, political influence or process expertise. In the majority of instances discussed thus far, however, the assumed audience for this book has been those in the project shaper role, and the focus has been on providing them with meaningful and useful guidance. The emphasis has largely been on empowering project shapers, regardless of their organizational position and influence, to perform their role effectively.
