ABSTRACT

Ernest Edmonds' journey as an artist has been rooted in Constructivism and influenced by a variety of interests, such as concrete poetry, film, music, mathematical logic and computing. The art he has created over the past fifty years has followed a strong cohesive path based upon a continual dialogue between colour, structure, time and interaction. Having been influenced by many art forms from a very early age, Ernest Edmonds was actively engaged in expressing his passion for visual art throughout his formative years. During this period, he began experimenting with an array of styles and techniques, often stimulated by encounters with great art in the galleries of London. Important personal connections between Edmonds and artists in the Systems and broader Constructivist tradition formed and grew stronger during the 1980s.
