ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a detailed account of the methodological approach. Methodological approach has been discussed in depth to demonstrate how recruiting Bangladeshi women to research need not be a difficult task if appropriate strategies are adopted. The construction of Bangladeshi women and especially older Bangladeshi women who do not speak English as difficult to engage with, is increasingly used as justification for their absence in data sets. The women were interviewed either in their home or at community organisations. Qualitative longitudinal research (QLR) is a relatively new methodological development attracting increasing interest. This study makes an important contribution to QLR studies by presenting data from a completed phase of longitudinal exploration. Reflexivity or researcher introspection has grown in significance as part of the qualitative research process, especially when research is conducted with minority groups. A flexible approach need not affect the rigour of methodology.
