ABSTRACT

Training embraces many of the aspects of NLP already covered, and it serves as a good example of an important application. The highest NLP qualification (Master Trainer) has more relevance to training than to, say, therapy or business. Whilst this level of aptitude largely involves passing on NLP skills to practitioners, the training skills offered apply far more widely, in one-to-one situations such as coaching as well as to groups. The presuppositions and methods described in Part 1, and the extra tips in this chapter, will provide an important resource even for trainers with no NLP affiliation. You will notice that some of the applications techniques also apply to sales presentations, public speaking and other topics dealt with in Part 2 – and vice versa. I have spread some of these common NLP applications throughout Part 2 to maintain some balance, so you may pick up useful information by dipping into chapters outside your immediate area of interest. For the Part 2 chapter headings, in the absence of any standard format for training or any other application, I have kept to words like ‘outcomes’ and ‘rapport’ that you can easily link to ideas familiar from Part 1.
