ABSTRACT

There are a number of industry and marketplace trends impacting innovation. We are witnessing an expanding number of technologies combined together in many products and services. At the same time, we are seeing an explosive growth in new applications and a phenomenal increase in the amount of content demanded for many products and services. The role of venture capital and start-ups is increasing. Companies are having to learn to deal with increasing market dynamics, and turmoil. Innovation is becoming more costly, complex and competitive which is leading to a move away from ‘the lab is our world’ and towards ‘the world is our lab’.
