ABSTRACT
Who is ‘Joe Public’? It is one generic name given to denote a hypothetical member of society deemed to be a ‘common man’. This person is presumed to have no strong political or social biases relevant to whatever topic is at hand, and to represent a randomly selected ‘man on the street.’ The name Joe Public is perhaps most commonly used in the USA. The equivalent name in other places such as the United Kingdom and Australia is Joe Bloggs.
