ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book develops a dual-focused analytical methodology for hip-hop turntable music. The analytical model deals with process as well as the creative product, facilitating and supporting a process-based analysis while also offering a formal analysis of the routine to establish any characteristics. The book shows a number of characteristics of the creative process and musical product of team turntable composition. It focuses on the compositional processes of turntable teams working within hip-hop culture has suggested certain areas of interest, which would be valuable to pursue further. The book examines the music of hip-hop turntablism, rather than the celebrities and culture, technologies and techniques often written about. Ideas around the selection and use of the technologies, the reasons behind turntable experimentation and the development of sound manipulation techniques cross these two histories, providing a fluid and vibrant background to hip-hop turntablism.
