ABSTRACT

The Shared Service Centre (SSC) is fundamental to the delivery of the role of HR as Administrative Expert. It provides the focused administrative excellence that drives financial efficiency and HR credibility through the quality of its output, getting the basics right, every time. The scope of the Shared Service Centre will be driven by the companys operating requirements and market sector. The key element is that the SSC enables the consolidation of similar HR administration activities from multiple business units. A key concept in delivering the savings from Shared Services is the ability to standardize processes across business units. Standardization will also drive quality improvements. A key thrust in the development of a Shared Services approach is the use of technology to reduce the effort of processing. Centralized Shared Services and standard processes should make the service provided by HR more consistent and intrinsically easier for its operators to get right every time.
