ABSTRACT

HR BPs need the support of the deep technical knowledge of the business that has traditionally resided in HR. The Centre of Excellence (CofE) is the home for these teams; a separate entity, it offers businesses specialist skills and knowledge in particular areas. The scope of activities covered by the HR Centre of Excellence will vary according to the nature of HR challenges faced by the industry it supports. The CofEs objective is to formulate and disseminate knowledge and learning around key HR processes to businesses and within the HR teams working as Business Partners. The CofE also defines the policy implemented by the HR Shared Service Centre. Depending upon the companies level of unionization, and whether collective agreements exist, the Employee Relationship team in the CofE may focus on managing union relations within businesses. Training design and training programme management resources may form part of the CofEs specialisms.
