ABSTRACT
From the 1870s to the 1910s, when Denmark hosted numerous human exhibitions, notions of race and racial differences were significantly different from what they are today. Over the course of the nineteenth century, race, and ideas of racial differences, increasingly impacted upon how people viewed and assessed others. This period also saw the rise of anthropology as a scientific field.
