ABSTRACT

In Hervieu-Lger's view, belonging does not refer necessarily to the idea of religious affiliation, but to a notion that provides identity. Religion still nourishes the process of identification at one or more of the following four levels: community, ethics, culture and emotion. Social isolation is one of the major concerns faced by ex-prisoners. Research confirms that the social networks and family relationships of ex-inmates tend to fade during their periods of detention and are no longer there when they leave prison. The way out of the total institution of the prison is long and ridden with obstacles. The cheap second-hand furniture and the high turnover made it quite difficult for the inhabitants to keep their flats really tidy. The forum's aim is to improve the quality of life in this urban space. The Baptist community in the area is very small, with fewer than 200 members.
