ABSTRACT

Process innovation has been applied in industrial businesses since the inception of scientific management at the beginning of the twentieth century. So there is a large body of existing knowledge that can be applied to process innovation in the professional service sector. I recognise that the service offering and unique partnership culture in professional service firms means that process innovation must be applied in a tailored and sympathetic way. However, in my experience much of the lessons and benefits of re-engineering gained in other sectors can be applied to the professional services sector.
