ABSTRACT

The chapter discusses the understanding of the Integral Development journey primarily as an inside out process. It initiates the transformative educational space that looks at as the major institutionalised vehicle for the Integral Development process. Integral Development further proposes that the travels with the 'Southern' and 'Eastern' realms, as both realms represent the more implicit, more inner dimensions of a human system. The reconfiguration of development work is thereby firmly lodged in a deep understanding of a particular natural, community-based, cultural and spiritual real-life context, before we move to more abstract scientific, systems-oriented, technological, and economic responses to the context at hand. The responsibility in an Integral Development paradigm lies not any longer primarily with abstract political systems, economics, science and technology. The chapter introduces the maps that are designed to support the orientation in the Integral Development terrain. For the journey through the complex terrain of Integral Development people will need a compass and a couple of key maps.
