ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapter of this book. The book discusses the strategies, organizations, technologies, business models and leadership styles for a variety of mechanisms to achieve innovations such as hybrid innovation, through the formation of interactive business communities (IBCs). It focuses on the processes behind the formation of IBCs through in-depth case studies of high-tech corporations in Japan, Taiwan and the United States, and described the management and leadership styles observed in those corporations. The age of convergence means that companies can no longer rely on the conventional closed innovation systems, and must recognize the importance of the dispersed skills and creativities of external partners all over the world. In the pursuit of customer value generation, the knowledge integration firms considered in the book are also examples of templates of corporate models rooted in a community spirit forged among all stakeholders.
