ABSTRACT
This chapter intends to shed some light on the essence of ihsan by exploring the notion of Islamic art and architecture with linkages to sustainability. Also, notions of ihsan and naturalistic intelligence will be discussed with reference to metaphors and analogies in Qura’n so as to inform debate on sustainability and Islam. Later, Mecca as a model of a good city and a good life will be discussed as a vision for the future.
