For the Versio brevior , it would be especially implausible to presume a late composition, for three-quarters of the known copies have the fi rst part of the Columbinus prophecy at their end, that is, in a copy with changed dates which adapted this part of the prophecy at least in the dates for Rupescissa’s apocalyptic scenario. 460 That would have been pointless, if the fi rst part of the Columbinus prophecy were not added shortly after 1356. The hyparchetype γ of the Versio brevior must therefore also have been written shortly after 1356.
