ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the four case studies and discusses the processes of knowledge development and learning that took place in these selected cases. It discusses the case studies with regard to their partnership, content, objectives and project strategy. The chapter attempts to open up the 'black-box' between the in- and output of knowledge in transnational projects with the help of some distinct 'process phases' relevant for transnational cooperation. It discusses some general findings on communication in the four case studies, its focus and intensity, barriers encountered and approaches to communication management. The chapter explores how much project partners in the case studies were able to increase the benefit of transnational cooperation by making use of its transfer potential. The case studies show that transnational exchange can be of different intensity and focus, which again influences its potential outcome. Exchange can be based on different platforms, including study visits, partner meetings and group work.
