ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the types of project methodologies found in the survey in terms of supporting the development of transnational exchange and knowledge. It explains two major groups of projects were identified, which are analysed with respect to their methodological elements. From a methodological perspective, the project was based on a transnational element: thematic working groups met to discuss and decide upon appropriate methods and strategies before pilot projects were implemented. A scientific advisory board ensured a comparative transnational analysis of conditions, characteristics, challenges and solutions. The chapter provides knowledge input and guidance to partners. However, in reality, the process did not take place as intended as project partners were more concerned with their individual pilot projects and needed time to familiarise themselves with transnational cooperation. Finally, the subsequent application of methods and strategies in the pilot districts was supposed to further enhance their transferability with a 'reality check'.
