ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the work breakdown process, which means breaking the project down into manageable chunks from which work can be allocated to departmental managers and other members of the project organization. The resulting breakdown pattern is known as a work breakdown structure (WBS). The WBS is a powerful tool that provides a framework for project management control, project cost accounting, progress and cost reports, and project management in general. The chapter shows coding the WBS for the Loxville flying school (FLS) project. At the highest level, the project entrepreneurs have decided to code this project LFS, to identify it as the LFS project. The chapter gives coding examples that taken from a project to design and manufacture simple single channel airborne radio equipment for sale to light aircraft manufacturers or private owners to enable air to air or local ground to air radio communication.
