ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the conceptual development of the research model and consequently, the proposed advanced research model of innovation adoption. The conceptual model of this research is based on the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) and it incorporates elements of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the model provided by Frambach and Schillewaert. In the development of the advanced model of innovation adoption organizational factors are incorporated as external factors. Organizational factors are the external factors and these include where individuals work. Under organizational factors there are three variables training, managerial support and incentives. In developing an advanced model, demographic factors have been included. These factors are the characteristics of employees. Demographics play an important part in influencing individuals' attitudes toward adoption. Future research in innovation and adoption can benefit from the use of this advanced model. The model will be tested through an empirical study.
