In Chapters 1 and 2 we presented starting points, perspectives and an overview of research. In this chapter, we will examine important research findings of relevance to our analysis. This covers research within a specialized field where the findings can be related to our empirical and theoretical perspectives. The research we look at deals with the following:

• project work and project management from, amongst others, a gender perspective;

• the importance of horizontal criteria – such as gender equality and diversity – in politically steered development processes.
