ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book reflects a particular historical period in the experience of the Iranian diaspora. It shows that they are not collections of separate stories, but constitute a collective whole; a whole that underscores the narratives of the Iranian diaspora. The book reveals that the Iranian regime, in its history and ideology, has been instrumental in causing the suffering of those in the disapora. A suffering Iranian body in the diaspora is one that is in pain and has been injured by history, politics, religion, violence, neglect, prejudice and stigmatisation. Iranians in the diaspora and indeed those living in Iran believe their perspectives in life have never been respected and accepted by those who dictate the political, economic, religious and moral codes according to which individuals must live and indeed think.
