ABSTRACT

‘Qualities of movement-spaces in more-than-representational health geographies’ explores some core qualities of movement-space (specifically those that make up the character of flows – as introduced in the previous chapter): speed, rhythm, momentum, imminence, encounter, and the immediate contrast of stillness. For each quality a basic scientific explanation is provided, followed by an explanation of how it arises in the social world and in traditional social science research. Attention is then paid to how NRT might instead understand the particular quality, and to how it has thus far arisen in more-than-representational health geographies.
