ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book focuses on two key aspects of Adjustment of Young Workers project: an analysis of the original data and a focus on a previously unknown aspect of the work of the renowned sociologist Norbert Elias. It explores the original dataset, the majority of which was never analysed at the time, in great depth. The book examines a rich descriptions of respondents, their families and their surroundings giving a detailed snapshot of life in 1960s provincial England. It presents something of a snapshot of the data and some of the background detail to the Adjustment of Young Workers research; yet, despite this, there is still more work to do with the data collected from the original research, with authors only having scratched the surface of the 1960s data and with significantly more analysis to undertake with the follow-up interviews.
