ABSTRACT

There are many ways of identifying patterns of behaviour but in order to see the pattern there is often a need to observe over a period of time. Some patterns are easy to begin to identify. Whenever we test our learner's knowledge before a programme, or conduct a baseline assessment, we do this in order to identify individual and group patterns of knowledge. They may also react positively to music, the rhythm of the music creating a pattern to which the knowledge can be attached. Those who work with accelerated learning techniques are using a wide variety of sensory input to speed up the process of pattern building. Pattern recognition is an essential first step in bringing about learning and change. Recognition of the strength of these existing patterns is vital in raising self-awareness and offering the opportunity to either reinforce or change them.
