ABSTRACT

The chief concern of the environment process element is to create a situation in which productivity provides the workforce with a meaningful voice in the design and execution of the process, thereby giving improved purpose to their activities. The physical environment relates to the design, maintenance and control of process air and water; cleanliness and repair of equipment; consistency of power supply; and security of production activities. The focus in the environment process evaluation revolves around the human interaction with machines, materials and methods during the course of routine processing operations. In conclusion, the environment element of process design establishes a mental and physical framework in which the business can operate efficiently and profitably. Psychological theory suggests that people thrive in an environment in which they feel valued and can count on a stable and fulfilling career. It is critical to ensure supervisory leadership establishes a positive environment in the process system.
