ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book offers a comprehensive but reader-friendly treatment of the principles, processes, and practices of strategic management, leadership, and business planning. It then looks at some of the key issues of strategic management and business planning. The book also deals with the process of strategic analysis. It contains two interrelated issues. The first issue is the appraisal of the internal circumstances and resources of the enterprise, its capability, its ability to generate value, and its sources of comparative or competitive advantage. The second issue is the summary analysis of the relevant external environments and competitive contexts within which the organization operates. The book focuses on some of the possible consequences for the strategic management of the enterprise of such emergencies, crises, and disasters that might with a certain degree of likelihood befall it.
