ABSTRACT

Planning, estimating and the use of the computer can eventually answer all of these questions provided that we can put a simple number on the amount of the resource needed and we are using good project management software. Provided that you can draw a critical path network diagram to plan the work, you should be able to use project management software to make schedules with a fairly smooth workload. To arrive at a time-limited resource schedule that uses as few extra resources as possible, as smoothly as possible, the following steps need to be followed: start by planning the project with a critical path network, carry out time analysis, try to start each task at its earliest possible date, delay any non-critical task if necessary to move resource usage away from an impossible overload peak, but do not delay any task by more than its remaining float.
