ABSTRACT

Logistics Company retains responsibility for overall programme and project management, product management, software architecture, testing and service management. Review teams include people from roles such as Support, Product Management, Test Management and Project/Programme Management. On occasion, they also include Infrastructure specialists and even people from User Education. Most projects include internal people from at least two regions out of Europe, America and Asia-Pacific, and our vendors have 70-80 per cent of their teams based offshore. The limited availability of internal software architects is another challenge. People have taken time to accommodate new ways of working. Some members of internal teams with many years of domain experience tended to make assumptions about what can be 'reasonably expected' from a supplier. Initially the two vendors were at very different levels of 'maturity' themselves. One was Capability Maturity Model integrated (CMMi). The other had been Software Capability Maturity Model (SW-CMM) but over time had dropped off the CMM model altogether.
