ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book is designed to provide a logical flow of issues related to Project Risk Governance (PRG). It examines the role of projects in organisations and the need to integrate project and business strategy within the framework of the project-based organisation. The book covers a broad range of issues, from the professionalisation of project management to paradigmatic implications for its practise. It identifies the essential requirements for managing risks at the project level. The book gives insights into the concept of project risk to increase the reader's understanding of uncertainty, risk events, probabilities. Australian project managers rated understanding the risk concept' as the number one key issue that confronts them. The book provides a roadmap along the stages and dimensions of a PRG maturity model.
