ABSTRACT

Business entities must have a clearly defined mission and strategic objectives else it would be difficult for management to determine precisely whether a proposed undertaking is aligned with the strategic direction of the organization. Strategy is generally viewed as being a set of decision-making rules to guide organizational behaviour. The characteristics of strategic decisions are the unique features of the decisions that are normally carried out at a strategic level whose attributes distinguish them from other organizational functional decisions. The top management layer is typically associated with strategic management where decisions are related to the future, taking into consideration both the internal and external environment. The project strategic fit process will ensure that the organization's resources are utilized in the most suitable manner to make certain that the organization's effort is aimed at achieving its business objectives. The organizational strategy is establishing a benchmark by which management will be able to assess whether to embark on an undertaking or not.
