ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses the project organization structure. The project organization structure is the management framework that supervises the various activities and tasks that make up a project. The abundant literature on organization structure recognizes that the task of organizing is a distinctive managerial function. Researchers conceive that modifying the form of the organizational structure in terms of its horizontal and vertical span would affect organizational performance. However, their results suggest that a limit would be reached whereby any further increase in the production does not necessarily demand an enlargement of the site project organization. Yinghui and Eng propose that these dimensions may provide an indication of the organization structure model to be applicable, in terms of where it should lie in the organization structure spectrum. The setting up of a project organization is a delicate and essential issue at the initiation of any project. A coordination project organization structure allows most of the employees to remain in their current functions.
