ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overall key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book describes relationships and how to manage them in such a way to make it easier to achieve economic, political, and social objectives more efficiently, and with greater return and equity. It focuses on how relationships an invisible resource influences our ability to take care of friends and business. The tool for explaining how relationships matter and how we can use them to care for friends and business is the Social Capital Paradigm. The book explains that our economic and socio-emotional well-being is interdependent because the flow of physical and socio-emotional goods (SEGs) and services travel together. It defines social capital and its capital-like qualities. The book also describes explain why relationships and social capital are important and why selfish motivations are not always the best predictors of social or economic behavior.
