ABSTRACT

Lamy defined globalization as a historical stage of accelerated expansion of market capitalism, like the one experienced in the 19th century with the industrial revolution. The country should take up the responsibility to contribute to enabling other countries to achieve globalization without tears, such that humanity as a whole can enjoy equitably the fruits of economic growth and social justice. Strengthening globalization-induced human values like competitive spirit at the professional and organizational levels is necessary for a country to gain an edge over other competing countries like China in the world globalization race. Human values in an organization are to be anchored to its mission statement and integrated with its work ethic, organizational culture, human resources development and strategic management. Since the 1990s, when India joined the globalization process, such efforts at integrating values with organizational culture have been strengthened in order to enhance competitiveness at the international level.
