ABSTRACT

This chapter presents an overview of the Spandan approach which aims to add further insights into the approach. In both academic and business worlds, by means of the Spandan approach and its 3D Process, Dr Rao has helped business managers propagate and develop select human values that were integral to the mission, work ethics and culture in an organization. The concept of the Spandan Approach, Lessem suggested, might be comparable to the Japanese concept of kaizen, African ubuntu and Chinese guanxi. Ubuntu is an African ethic or human philosophy focusing on people's allegiances to and relations with each other. Interpersonal relationship, as defined by the term guanxi, is one of the major dynamics of Chinese society, and has been a pervasive part of the Chinese business world for the last few centuries. The chapter also presents commentaries on the concepts of Mother and maternalistic management. The concept of mother in management is entirely innovative of global economic crisis due to greed.
