ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the relevance of Indian philosophy, culture and society to understanding India's contribution to the emerging and topical issue of humanizing management and mankind are addressed. The Indian approach to remaking ourselves, with reference to the relevance and application of human values in management. The Spandan Approach incorporating the Spandan 3D Process and the Spandan Spectrum of Human Values play a crucial role in the process of remaking ourselves as human beings, our enterprises and our society. The substance of the Atharvaveda bringing the ancient wisdom and ethos of India to bear on the process elucidated here: how to remake ourselves as human beings and in relation to the enterprise and society. Caste is another salient feature of Indian society. There are four broad categories of castes: Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vysyas and Shudras. The Mahabhartha, represents an attempt by vedic Brahmanism to adjust itself to new circumstances reflected in the process of the Sanskritization of the various non-vedic communities.
